WEBSITE UNDER DEVELOPMENT, THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE!
Yes! We're the WHS robotics team.
Any Weymouth High School student in grades 9–12 with an interest in STEM, robotics, or teamwork can join. We welcome all skill levels, from complete beginners to experienced builders.
If you are not attending Weymouth High School but want to still participate in robotics, we'd love to help you start a club/program within the FIRST module. Reach out to us!
We meet at Weymouth High School in our dedicated robotics workspace. Exact days and times are posted on our team calendar and communicated via email or our team messaging channels.
Membership is free, though some events or competitions may have associated fees. We offer fundraising opportunities to help offset costs, and financial support is available for members who need it.
Absolutely. SCRAP values diversity and inclusion and encourages participation from all students.
Contact the team mentor or advisors. We will work with you to ensure you can participate safely and fully.
We accept new members year-round, with more structured onboarding at the start of each school year or build season.
Yes! We welcome new members at any point in the year.
Team members typically meet at least 1 time per week during the school year, with additional hours during the build season leading up to competitions. Attendance at competitions and outreach events is highly encouraged but not mandatory for all members.
Meetings usually include a mix of design, building, programming, testing, and team planning. Workshops, training, and mentorship sessions are also part of our schedule. Some days might become dedicated to specific sub-teams or goals. Our team communications will state these dedicated sessions in advance.
Some meetings and design sessions can be attended remotely, but hands-on building is best done in person. All participation requires students and mentors to fill out dedicated paperwork prior to attending these meetings.
We provide all essential tools and materials. Members may need a laptop for programming or design tasks.
Members can work in engineering, programming, design, media, business, finance, outreach, or team leadership. If you want to pursue on a skill that we don't list, we would love to work with you!
Yes! Members are encouraged to explore multiple roles to find what interests them most. Students are also able to pursue multiple fields at the same time (ie art and electrical)!
Absolutely. Returning members can take on mentorship roles, sub-team leadership, or project management positions.
Yes. Members can focus on areas they’re most passionate about while still contributing to the team’s overall goals.
SCRAP competes in FIRST Robotics events, including local district competitions and, if qualified, state and world championships.
Our competition schedule changes every year. Please consult our team calendar or a team mentor for accurate dates.
Yes. Some competitions may require travel within the state or region. Travel costs may be supported through fundraising. All students must complete paperwork with the school and club prior to travel.
At competition, our team will form into four groups: drive team, pit crew, award presenters, and cheer section. Students are enrolled in each group as the team sees fit, and can even overlap if needed. It is each member's responsibility to work together to ensure the robot performs at its best. Leadership and mentorship will guide each sub-team.

Yes, pink is our team color. It is a mandatory requirement to wear team memorabilia during all competition and outreach events.
Members help demonstrate STEM activities, teach younger students, and share our team’s mission with the community. Enthusiasm and curiosity are more important than expertise! Our goals with events range depending on the purpose and capacity.
Please contact your mentors for the next steps!
