WEBSITE UNDER DEVELOPMENT, THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE!
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a global nonprofit organization that inspires young people to become leaders in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Through hands-on robotics programs, students work together to solve real-world challenges while building technical skills, teamwork, and confidence.
Founded in 1989 by inventor Dean Kamen, FIRST believes that by combining the excitement of competition with the inspiration of discovery, students develop a lifelong passion for learning and innovation.

While robotics is at the heart of FIRST, it’s about much more than building machines. Teams also:
Develop leadership, communication, and business skills.
Engage with their communities through outreach and volunteering.
Work with mentors from local industries, schools, and universities.
Learn the importance of Gracious Professionalism® and Coopertition® — values that encourage respect, teamwork, and integrity both on and off the field.
51%
of female FIRST alumni declare a major in engineering or computer science by year four of college
83%
of FIRST alumni pursue STEM majors by year four of college
63%
of FIRST alumni are currently employed in a STEM field by the time they graduate
100%
of FIRST alumni learn soft-skills like public speaking and teamwork
Students who participate in FIRST gain real-world experience that prepares them for college, careers, and beyond. Many alumni go on to pursue STEM fields, earn scholarships, and give back as mentors to the next generation of innovators.
Whether you’re interested in engineering, programming, design, business, or outreach, FIRST gives everyone a place to belong.
